All questions before placing an order.
1. Can Skyleader product track in real-time?
- At present, the technology does not allow to make the real time GPS ring, weighted 4 grams. The real time GPS ring need a large capacity batteryand the GPS ring will become bigger. For pigeon, it's a big burden.
- In order toreduce pigeon’s burden, we developed smaller and lighter GPS tracker ring and use GPS+ Glonassto record the position. Pigeon’s flight track can only be read after the pigeon comes back.
2. Do you ship to my location?
- We will arrange delivery via DHL Express.
- They can deliver to many places around the world. You can also check with your local DHL before purchasing to confirm if youraddress is within their service area.
3. Does the selling price include delivery costs and import tax?
- All prices are exclusive shipping costs. Duties and taxes are most typically not included in the price of the goods you purchaseonline and might not be included in the overall shipping costs you pay to the online retailer.
- When purchasing goods online, some or all ofthese goods may not originate in the country you reside in; therefore, are subject to a customs duty, which is a tariff or tax imposed on goods when transported across international borders.
- When goods are not shipped domestically (within your country) or within a single customs union, such as the European Union, you are liable to pay any inbound duties and taxes which your local customs authority deems appropriate.
4. How much is the shipping cost?
- Shipping costs are usually USD 40. If you need to make a bulk purchase, please contact us.

Operating software
1. What should I do if I forget my password?
- Click Forgot my passwordand enter your account ID.Then select Send verification code. You’ll receive the code in your registered email.Once verified, you can reset your password.
- If you can’t remember which email you used, please contact us with your GPS IDand we’ll help look it up.The GPS ID is printed on the ring and can be seen after removing the battery.
- Note: Changing the registered email requires a service fee.
2. Why am I seeing the error message: “Operation Error! You are not authorized to read this ring.”
- Each GPS ring can only be linked to a single email account. If you log in with a different account than the one originally registered, you’ll see this error.
- Please log in using the email address that was used to register the ring.
3. Why can’t the software detect the ring reader?
- Install the Ring Reader Driver PL2303 from our website.
- Unplug the USB cable and try a different port.
- If the cable is damaged, replace it with a new one.
4. Why can’t I set the departure time/ read the data?
- Make sure the GPS ring is seated correctly on the reader.
- The departure time must be set to a future time.
- Confirm that the battery is fully charged.
- If the battery has been in place for more than 4 minutes, the GPS ring enters sleep mode. Remove and reinstall the battery to wake it up.
Battery
1. How long can a GPS ring record data once its battery is fully charged?
- For Mode 2 and Mode 4U, the GPS ring can record data depending on the selected logging mode. There are five options:
In 2HR mode, the ring records one point every 2 seconds and lasts about 2 hours.
In 6HR mode, it records one point every 35 seconds and lasts about 6 hours.
In 10HR mode, it records one point every 75 seconds and lasts about 10 hours.
In 12HR mode, it records one point every 180 seconds and lasts about 12 hours.
In 35HR mode, it records one point every 375 seconds and lasts about 35 hours.
These modes are recommended for different scenarios. Around the loft, use 2HR mode. For long-distance flights, use 6HR, 10HR, or12HR. For marathon flights longer than 12 hours, use 35HR.
- For Mode C, the product uses a built-in battery and supports seven logging modes.
In 9HR mode, it records one point every 60 seconds and lasts about 9 hours.
In 13HR mode, it records one point every 90 seconds and lasts about 13 hours.
In 42HR mode, it records one point every 180 seconds and lasts about 42 hours.
In 60HR mode, it records one point every 300 seconds and lasts about 60 hours.
In 72HR mode, it records one point every 360 seconds and lasts about 72 hours.
In 82HR mode, it records one point every 420 seconds and lasts about 82 hours.
In 113HR mode, it records one point every 600 seconds and lasts about 113 hours.
2. What should I do when the computer shows the error message: “Please re-install the battery of the ring and put the ring back to the ring reader and read it again”?
For Mode 2 and Mode 4U, the GPS ring will enter sleep mode four minutes after the battery is inserted. In this case, you needtoremove and reinstall the battery before reading data. If the battery has run out after a flight, replace it with a fully charged one before reading.
3. How should I store the GPS ring and batteries during the off-season or when not in use?
For Mode 2 and Mode 4U, during the off-season or long periods without use, always remove the battery from the GPS ring and storethem separately. This prevents over-discharge that could damage the battery.
For Mode C and all products with lithium batteries, regular charging is required for maintenance. Please recharge at least once every three months, even if the product is not in use.
Skyleader V2.0 GPS Data
1. Why can’t I read the complete records from the GPS ring?
This usually happens when the battery does not have enough power to finish recording. Always charge the battery fully before use(a 100% charge takes about 2.5 hours).
Other possible reasons include:
- The ring door was not closed properly.
- Stickers or accessories containing metal or aluminum interfere with the signal.
- The ring was kept in a pocket, held in your hand, or placed near a car’s insulation material.
- The ring was not seated correctly on the reader.
- If the data still cannot be read, insert a fully charged battery and leave the ring outdoors in an open space for 2–3 hours, then try again.
Important: Do not keep the ring in your pocket, hold it in your hand, or place it near car insulation while recording, as this prevents the device from receiving satellite data.
2. Why do markers in the track show different spacing?
During use, the ring sometimes wakes up and communicates more intensively with GPS satellites to confirm its location. At these times, the markers will be closer together. Once the position is identified, the ring continues logging at the set interval.
This behavior is more likely in cloudy weather or when the GPS signal is weak. Missing markers can also indicate poor signal quality at that moment. When signal strength drops too low, the ring may enter sleep mode, creating gaps in the track
3. Why is the recorded time different from the departure time?
Make sure you set the departure time and later read the data in the same time zone. For example, if you set the departure time in Japan but read the data in Taiwan, the timestamps will not match. Adjust your computer’s time zone to the same as where the departure was set to ensure the data displays correctly.
4. Why does the GPS ring start recording later than the departure time I set?
If the GPS ring has not been used for a long time, it may take extra time to acquire a signal and begin recording.
Weak reception caused by obstacles, such as flying near transmission towers, can also delay the start of logging.
5. Why can’t I find history records?
Open the software, click About, and select Manual Sync Checkup. The program will sync with the cloud automatically, and your history records should appear.
6. Why does the map turn white when I draw the tracks?
If the track name contains special characters such as ( ), [ ], { }, or < >, the map may not display correctly. Rename the trackwithout these symbols and try again.
7. Why does the ring read successfully but no valid data appears?
This usually happens when the pigeon flew close to a high-voltage tower, which interferes with GPS signals. Please try recordingagain under better conditions.
